C-Section or normal delivery. What’s your choice?

Many new parents now a days are in a dilemma, so as whether to choose between natural birth or Cesarean / C section ( as it is called ) . The reasons are varied, some opt due to health reasons ( many women’s health does not allow them to go for natural births), others financially.

Many such cases are also on the rise.

Someone ( unknown ) delivered a baby some 6 months ago, but couldn’t hold her for around a week. This is still the biggest regret & first thing she talked about when asked about C section. But if we see the medical necessity, it arose because she had fibroid that were causing complications. Another homemaker from Mumbai, ( again name not revealed )also had a C sec, sometime back & this is what she has to say, “all my friends have had C sections too, in the name of last minute complications. Doctors very well know that they will instill fear in us & we won’t argue”.

It’s a problem that’s become so rampant that India now has about 4 times as many C sections as it should.

Some want the baby to be born at an auspices time / date. There are still others telling patients about the pain they went through.

Infertility is yet another reason fuelling surgical births. Couple who unfortunately cannot conceive go in for IVF, where pregnancy is very precious & parents do not want to take a chance. In most cases, multiple babies make normal delivery difficult. Also C sections are done in cases where babies weigh 3.5 – 4 kg or are premature.

Now coming to what & why I opted for. As I have mentioned in my previous posts that I have twins. So, for delivering twins / multiples(as mentioned earlier), normal delivery is not easy.I had mostly been bed ridden throughout my pregrancy ( something or the other kept happening ). Even my doc used to tell me to try extending the time as much as I can, otherwis kids might NOT have to be in NICU. I somehow managed to do but still they were born premature.

My water broke in the middle of the night & we rushed to the hospital. We welcomed my babies morning around 10 & now my naughty little babies are going to be 2. Where did time go by??

Career oriented women

The findings of the two-day international research conference on contemporary management practices at the Lahore University of Management Sciences have gone on to show that the present-day woman is more ambitious and career-oriented. The panel identified certain challenges facing the contemporary working-class woman such as the notion that women are more committed to their families rather than their work and the fact that part-time jobs are not credited as serious experience when seeking advancement at senior levels in the organization. The challenge for the modern human resource managers is to balance professional and personal needs of women through career counselling. Flexible working hours can enable the women to better navigate their professional and personal lives.
